As per the federal law under the Energy Policy Act of 2005, DST will officially end on the first Sunday of November. In November 2025, the clocks will “fall back” at 2:00 a.m. local time on Sunday, November 2, into earlier daylight savings time. So, this year, the shift occurs at 2:00 p.m. That makes it the second-earliest possible date this year, just one day later than the absolute earliest (November 1) and a full day earlier than last year.

Conflicts over the future of DST as proponents argue that it saves energy and brings decreased crime rates from evenings well-lit by artificial lighting; economic benefits that come from shopping and recreation in the evenings under extended daylight feature among their reasons for approximation.

Although the Sunshine Protection Act has passed the Senate once in an earlier session, no final shaping legislation making it permanent has yet emerged.
