If you live in Florida, there’s good news on the horizon. You could be among the residents receiving up to $800 in SNAP benefits on your EBT card before May 25, 2025. This week marks the final round of May’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) distribution in the state.

When will your SNAP payment arrive?

Between Thursday, May 22, and Sunday, May 25, SNAP payments will be issued to Florida residents according to the last few digits of their case number. Specifically, the eighth and ninth digits of your case number (read backward, skipping the tenth digit) will determine your payment date.

Here’s the schedule to look out for:

  • Case numbers 75–78: Payment arrives on May 22
  • Case numbers 79–81: Payment arrives on May 23
  • Case numbers 82–85: Payment arrives on May 24
  • Case numbers 86–88: Payment arrives on May 25

If you fall into one of these groups, check your Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card during your assigned day. The funds will be loaded directly, and you can use them at authorized retailers for eligible food items.

What can you buy with SNAP benefits?

Your EBT card works like a debit card, but it’s limited to certain food purchases. You can use it for items such as:

  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Dairy and meats
  • Grains and cereals
  • Non-alcoholic beverages

However, SNAP benefits cannot be used to buy:

  • Alcohol or tobacco
  • Hot, prepared foods
  • Vitamins or supplements
  • Non-food items like cleaning supplies

So when you shop, make sure you stick to the list of approved foods to make the most of your monthly benefit.

Why Florida and not California or Texas?

This particular benefit level and timing apply only to Florida. According to the Florida Department of Children and Families, the overwhelming majority of qualified families statewide will see about $800 in May SNAP benefits. Benefits are based on household size and income, but low-income families will receive nearly the maximum permitted benefit.

Here’s a quick look at maximum benefits for 2025:

  • 1 person: $291
  • 2 people: $535
  • 3 people: $766
  • 5 people: $973
  • 8 or more: $1,751

Even if your household doesn’t qualify for the full amount, any assistance helps, especially with rising food prices and inflation.

What happens after May 25?

May 25 is the last day of Florida’s May SNAP issuance. If your benefit has not arrived by that day, it’s time to sign in to your ACCESS Florida account and check your case status. There will be no new May payments made after that date.

But don’t worry — the SNAP cycle will start in June, on the same staggered schedule depending on your case number.

To keep on enjoying your benefits, ensure that your household information is current, and don’t misuse your SNAP funds. Misusing them will result in a loss of benefits and a fine.

These benefits are here to help you. Use them wisely, shop smart, and plan meals ahead to stretch every dollar. Many families in Florida rely on SNAP each month, and this May, an extra boost could make all the difference.
