AT&T has reached an agreed settlement of $177 million proposed to settle two major data breaches affecting together tens of millions of current and former customers. For these locations, qualified persons may claim up to $5,000 for the first breach and up to $2,500 each for the second and total damages of $7,500 for both incidents. Here is the complete guide: extremely important, claim filing deadline will be November 18, 2025.

Overview of the breaches and the settlement

In March 2024, hackers breached personal data-information like names, birth dates, Social Security numbers-of some 73 million AT&T account holders, later circulating the data on the dark web. A second breach came four months later, by which call and text records of nearly all AT&T cellular customers were being exposed. A proposed settlement of $177 million for the class-action case for the first breach has been issued preliminary approval by a federal judge, while $28 million will be paid for the second breach.

The final approval hearing will occur on December 3, 2025, in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Settlement details and compensation breakdown

The settlement divides funds between two overlapping classes:

Breach IncidentEligible Payment per ClaimantTime Frame of Losses Covered
March 2024 breachUp to $5,000Losses from January 1, 2019 onward
July 2024 breachUp to $2,500Losses on or after April 14, 2024
Overlap class membersUp to $7,500Combined losses from both breaches

To be eligible, an individual must prove that his loss is “fairly traceable” to the specific breaches.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify, claimants must be or have been AT&T customers of whom their personal information or call/text records were involved in and exposed to either or both breaches. Notices were sent to claimants via email managed by Kroll Settlement Administration through [email protected]

If a claimant did not receive an email yet strongly believes to have been affected, claims can be made on the eligibility of his/her case by reaching out to Kroll at (833) 890-4930.

Claim process along with step by step guide

  • Click “Submit a Claim” and enter your unique Class Member ID (sent to you in the notice email).
  • Fill out the online claim form, indicating which breach(es) affected you.
  • Attach or upload evidence proving your loss, such as bills, costs for identity theft remediation, or other expenses due to the breach.
  • Review and submit the form.

By doing so, the claimants will voluntarily dismiss any right to sue AT&T further concerning the breaches as introduced above.

Important dates and deadlines

  • November 18, 2025: Claim Submission Deadline
  • December 3, 2025: Final Approval Hearing
  • End of 2025: If approved, payouts may begin unless interrupted by an appeal.

Tips for claimants

  • Collect documentation early: Since these can include receipts for credit monitoring, identity restoration services, or any fraud, losses should be collected as early as possible.
  • Save your ID: The Class Member ID email should be kept securely since it will be needed while filing a claim.
  • Track your claim: After submission, keep track of your claim through the website or by calling Kroll.

What happens after you file?

Once the court gives its final approval, Kroll will commence with claims processing. Payments will depend on the running total of claims approved and could be prorated if total claims exceed the total amount payable. An appeal window that will follow up the hearing may delay some of the payouts. It is highly recommended that beneficiaries become patient since the claim processing is quite mass in nature.

If your data was exposed following AT&T’s breaches in March or July 2024, significant amounts-up to $7,500-can be obtained by filing your claims with telecomdatasettlement.com before November 18, 2025. Make sure to have handy your Class Member ID and other supportive documents, and keep your eyes peeled for official notifications from Kroll Settlement Administration to help guide you step by step through the entire process.
