The retail and e-commerce industries still play a big role in employment, especially in the USA. Findings from the National Retail Federation indicate that approximately one in every four jobs in America is, in one way or another, related to retail. With over 32 million Americans working in the retail industry, it is hardly surprising that there are several lucrative opportunities available in these fields. If, like most people, you’re interested in customer service, technology, and retail operations, you will find plenty of cash-rich roles in these industries by 2025. Below are some of the highest-paid and most in-demand jobs today within retail and e-commerce:

1. Merchandising Director

Average annual salary: $118,567

Owing to their importance in defining what products are offered in any outlet/store/net organization, a merchandising director would be at the call of inventory management with vendor contacts and in-store display coordination to help tailor an outlet to the desire of the customers. Excellent communication, strong analytical skills and typically, a background in marketing or merchandising will be required for this role. While most employers will take a high school diploma with five years’ experience in merchandising, bigger companies will have different expectations, leaning towards a bachelor’s degree in business or marketing.

2. District Manager

Average Annual Salary: $82,563

This position is responsible for District Managers overseeing a specified number of locations within a geographic area. Acts as a liaison between stores and the corporate office. Ensures that company policies are carried out in the stores and directs store-level employees in their work. While this could be important for lower-level management experience, a bachelor’s degree in business administration or retail operations is the subject most closely related to this. Certified Manager or similar certification programs could also enhance your qualifications.

3. Pharmacist (Retail)

Average Annual Salary: $126,615

Retail pharmacists have proven to be indispensable members of health retail teams. Dispensing medications, counseling customers, and supervising pharmacy staff are the basic functions of retail pharmacists. This job requires a Pharm.D. degree and licensure through certain exams. But this is likely to be one of the most enviable uses, where thousands of bucks flow along with good job security. A large number of retail pharmacists work within grocery chains and drugstores, in such formats as chain pharmacies.

4. Logistics Manager

Average Annual Salary: $75,497

Logistics managers ensure appropriate, reliable, and timely delivery of goods into retail locations. This role is an important organizational skill because it handles the shipping activity and even runs the inventory system. Logistical management degrees or supply chain management degrees are often complemented by certifications in logistics or project management to have better prospects.

5. Marketing Development Manager

Average Annual Salary: $89,764

This is because in the retail or e-commerce space, marketing is very much at the root of driving sales during the harvest time. The marketing development managers thus provide the touchpoints through which they oversee advertising activities, championing new marketing opportunities. And through effective promotional campaigns and communication analyses, they develop new marketing avenues. They will possess excellent discussion and analytical skills and will normally hold at least a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field. Some work experience in marketing roles and, sometimes, a master’s degree advance their earnings in this position.

6. E-Commerce Manager

Average Annual Salary: $81,068

Online shopping may be so prolific as to bring high demand for e-commerce managers. These managers are responsible for overall online sales activities, providing uninterrupted customer experience, and optimizing retail websites. A strong foundation in business, marketing, and information technology is often needed. They should also have experience with web analytics, customer service strategies, digital marketing, and anything related to e-commerce.

7. General Manager Average Annual Salary: $77,123

General managers supervise day-to-day operations at a retail store or company. Some functions of the general manager include the hiring and management of staff, scheduling shifts, implementing company policies, and dealing with customer complaints. It is worth mentioning that general managers come from many career backgrounds. A bachelor’s degree in business may help, but most people rise to general manager from entry-level positions.

8. Loss Control Consultant

Average Annual Salary: $86,880

Loss control consultants are employed to mitigate risks in retail situations. Such risks include theft, workplace accidents, or security threats. They analyze risks and suggest corrective measures to be taken to prevent loss. An occupational health and safety or business-related background is preferred, and having certifications in loss prevention adds to the maximum salary.
