Gerber Products Company has revived a recall for its Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks after it was discovered that the products were still available on store shelves and online, despite an initial recall in January 2025. This recall affects products sold in 45 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. The company posted another alert on April 18, cautioning parents against a continuing choking hazard.

Multiple complaints from consumers, including one that culminated in an emergency room visit, have prompted the recall. While there have been no reported fatalities, the risk associated with these teething snacks has led to urgent calls to rid such products from homes.

Whence comes the recall?

Gerber found, in fact, that some lots already targeted for recall in January were still being sold in retail outlet locations and also online marketplaces. The company issued a second press statement on April 18 urging immediate action from retailers as well as parents.

“This is not a new recall but rather what we are calling a continuation and imperative effort to remove these affected products,” the company said. The additional alert, therefore, was really a consequence of continued reports that these products had not been pulled fully out of circulation.

What parents should do

If you have any of the affected teething sticks in your pantry, do not give them to your child. Gerber would also like to invite customers to return the items to the store from which these were purchased for a full refund.

Also, parents and caregivers are encouraged to report any adverse reaction or other complaints regarding the snacks to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) via its MedWatch program.

Final reminder: Check your pantry

In light of products still arriving to homes well after the recall, Gerber urges parents to double-check pantries for all baby foods. Above all, safety is a primary concern when it comes to products being fed to infants. Please be sure to look for the particular flavors, package sizes, and UPC codes listed above.
