Albertsons, Randalls, and Tom Thumb are recalling their Tuna salad products over fears of possible listeria contamination

Albertsons, Randalls, and Tom Thumb stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas are voluntarily recalling certain tuna salad products supplied by Reser’s Fine Foods due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall was initiated after breadcrumbs, an ingredient utilized in the tuna salad, were found to possibly be contaminated with Listeria, a pathogenic foodborne bacterium which is particularly life-threatening for pregnant women, older adults, young children, and immunocompromised individuals.

The recall includes various tuna salad products that have sell-through dates from July 16, 2025, through July 19, 2025. Consumers who purchased any of the following products are not to consume them and are asked to return them to the store for a full refund or dispose of them in an appropriate manner.

  • RM Tuna Salad Over Bed of Lettuce SS (UPC 21786400000), sold each, sell-through dates July 16 to July 18, 2025
  • Salad Tuna Premium (UPC 21228800000), variable weight, sell-through dates July 17 to July 19, 2025
  • Tray Croissant Mini Salad 16 inch (UPC 27841300000), sold each, sell-through dates July 16 to July 18, 2025
  • Tray Croissant Mini Salad 18 inch (UPC 27841200000), sold each, sell-through dates July 16 to July 18, 2025
  • Tray Salad Sandwich 12 inch (UPC 27841500000), sold in each, sell-through dates July 16 to July 18, 2025
  • Tray Salad Sandwich 16 inch (UPC 27841400000), sold in each, sell-through dates July 16 to July 18, 2025

In addition, other supermarkets such as Jewel-Osco supermarkets in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa are also recalling some tuna salad items with the same ingredient risk. For these states, those being recalled are:

  • RM Duo Tuna Salad with Crackers (UPC 27183000000), sold each, sell-by dates July 17 to July 19, 2025
  • RM Quad Tuna Salad (UPC 21500300000), sold each, sell-by dates July 17 to July 19, 2025
  • RM Salad Tuna SS (1 lb container, UPC 29486900000), sell-by dates July 17 to July 19, 2025
  • RM Sandwich Croissant SSTBL Tuna Salad SS (UPC 21372500000), sold each, sell-by dates July 17th to July 19th, 2025
  • RM Sandwich Tuna Salad Croissant SS Cold (UPC 21788400000), sold each, sell-by dates July 16th to July 18th, 2025
  • Tuna Salad (variable weight, UPC 21680700000), sell-by dates July 17th to July 19th, 2025

No illness has so far been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers are nevertheless emphatically advised against consuming these products due to the severe health implications of Listeria infection, which can cause diarrhea and nausea as far as conditions like meningitis and miscarriage among vulnerable populations.

Consumers who purchased any of the recalled products should return them to the store or dispose of them immediately for full refund. The FDA also recommends thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing any surface, container, or utensil that may have come in contact with these products in order to prevent cross-contamination.
