For many families, YoCrunch® yogurt is a fun treat—creamy yogurt paired with crunchy toppings like M&M’s or Oreo pieces. But this week, that treat became a safety concern. The company behind YoCrunch, Danone U.S., announced a voluntary recall of all YoCrunch products currently on the market after reports that pieces of hard plastic were found in the topping domes.
The recall was officially issued on Friday and shared with the public on Tuesday, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
What’s the problem?
According to Danone, some customers discovered transparent plastic pieces inside the dome-shaped topper that comes separately packaged above the yogurt. These plastic pieces are dangerous because:
- They are sharp and may cause injury.
- They are between 7 and 25 millimeters long.
- They pose a choking risk, especially to children.
Luckily, the yogurt itself is not affected—only the plastic dome topper. But to be safe, Danone is recalling every flavor and size of YoCrunch products on store shelves.
What Danone is doing now
Danone says it is working fast to:
- Pull affected products off the shelves with the help of retail partners.
- Investigate how the plastic got into the toppers.
- Fix the issue so that YoCrunch can return safely to stores.
The company also emphasized that they care deeply about customer safety and are taking the issue seriously.
What should you do if you bought YoCrunch?
If you’ve purchased YoCrunch yogurt recently, here’s what to do:
- Do not eat the topping, even if it looks normal.
- You can still eat the yogurt portion, but it’s best to avoid the product completely if you’re unsure.
- Contact Danone U.S. to ask about a refund.
- Check the “currently in market” products—if it’s YoCrunch, it’s part of the recall.
To get a refund or ask questions, visit the Danone website or contact their customer service.
