Trader Joe’s expands its horizons
Trader Joe’s, the affordable, store-brand supermarket chain everyone raves about, is expanding again. The company recently added seven new stores to its “coming soon” roster. The new stores will be sprinkled in several states, bringing Trader Joe’s favorites to even more people.
So far, Trader Joe’s now has shops in 42 states, with Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Mississippi, and West Virginia having none. The expansion follows because the company continues to expand, as it already announced 16 new stores in July of this year.
Where are they?
The seven new Trader Joe’s are situated at:
- Columbia, South Carolina – 275 Harbison Blvd.
- Costa Mesa, California – 2170 Harbor Blvd., Suite 100
- Hamden, Connecticut – 46 Skiff St.
- Melbourne, Florida – 21 Town Center Ave., Suite 101
- Williamsville, New York – 5017 Transit Rd.
- Kingwood, Texas – 600 Kingwood Dr.
- Lacey, Washington – 691 Sleater Kinney Rd. SE
Each of the new stores will have Trader Joe’s signature charm: nautical touches, cheerful staff known as “crew members,” and shelves lined with items you can’t find on the shelves at most supermarkets.
Why this growth matters
Trader Joe’s growth is always in the news because the brand has a devoted fan base. Customers love the store since it is affordable and has creative frozen dinners, snacks, holiday foods, and gourmet items like “Everything but the Bagel” seasoning or cauliflower gnocchi.
Opening new locations also makes more communities within reach of budget food shopping during a time when food prices are still high across the country. For others, having a Trader Joe’s in the neighborhood makes grocery shopping affordable and entertaining.
A brand that stands out
To all the other large-box food store chains, Trader Joe’s is easy. The stores are not as big as the large-box supermarket stores but have a carefully curated selection of items. Most of the products being sold by Trader Joe’s are under its own brand, which is cheap.
Shoppers enjoy hearing the cheerful and casual shopping atmosphere. Staff are encouraged to greet shoppers, provide samples (if available), and even ring bells rather than relying on public address announcements. This new concept in retailing has set Trader Joe’s apart from its competition.
Merger gives muscle to Trader Joe’s expansion plans
The seven new stores come on the heels of an active year for the California-based chain. Last July, the company announced it was opening 16 more stores. The most recent addition of stores indicates Trader Joe’s continuation into further parts of the U.S.
With this pace of expansion, it is possible that the other states that lack Trader Joe’s stores will have them in the future. Even though Alaska, Hawaii, and other absent states have no announcement yet, the company’s steady growth gives fans hope.
What this means for shoppers
For Columbia, Costa Mesa, Hamden, Melbourne, Williamsville, Kingwood, and Lacey shoppers, the opening of a Trader Joe’s will be certain to cut down on commutes and make it easy to get to the store’s specialty foods. For loyal followers, it is a treat to be able to buy their favorite foods more easily in their own homes. For newcomers, it is a chance to discover what has made America fall in love withthe Traderr Joe’s grocery store chain.
The opening dates for the new stores have not been announced, but when the stores do open, fans can look forward to grand openings with shopping bags and shelves stacked with the typical Trader Joe’s products.
