While some retailers are closing doors, Trader Joe’s is expanding its geographical reach by opening 21 new stores, solidifying its ever more popular California-based grocery store chain throughout the United States.
Trader Joe’s continues to grow
Another 21 were confirmed as being in the pipeline after the company provided USA TODAY an update on April 11 that revealed it has already opened two stores in 2025. In its absence, another spokesperson pointed out that announcements of new stores have been updated on an ongoing monthly basis.
This brings the current number of for stores to 581, found in 42 states and the District of Columbia. The remaining states having no Trader Joe store are Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Mississippi, and West Virginia.

Note this
Indeed, today, Trader Joe’s stands out upon the retail landscape in which almost all are downsizing. Many soon-to-open 21 new stores, together with more likely to come, can hardly wait for those shoppers in these cities to indulge in the well-known friendly service, quirky produce labels, and affordable gourmet grocery items of the brand.
