Chipotle is back with a game that rewards your knowledge (and appetite)
If you think you know everything about Chipotle — from where its ingredients come from to how its guacamole is made — now’s your chance to prove it. The popular fast-casual Mexican grill is bringing back its Chipotle IQ trivia game, and this time the stakes are even tastier.
Starting this August, Chipotle Rewards members can put their burrito knowledge to the test for a chance to win buy-one-get-one (BOGO) entrée deals, free side dishes, and extra rewards points. And unlike previous years, this summer’s edition is bigger, longer, and comes with a prize twist: players can win multiple food rewards over the course of the game.
This is the sixth year Chipotle has run the Chipotle IQ challenge, but it’s the first time the game will run across two separate weeks — giving fans double the opportunity to play, win, and snack.
What exactly is Chipotle IQ?
Think of Chipotle IQ as a fun pop quiz, except the only thing at stake is your stomach. The trivia covers all things Chipotle — from the chain’s menu items to its sourcing practices, sustainability initiatives, and brand history.
According to the company, the game offers 6,000 BOGO entrée codes, 2,000 free Adobo Ranch offers, and 2,000 free Queso Blanco offers per hour to the first 10,000 Chipotle Rewards members who ace the quiz with a perfect 5 out of 5 score.
And don’t worry — even if you score a 4 out of 5, you won’t walk away empty-handed. You’ll get 25 Chipotle Rewards points, which can be stacked toward free food.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Perfect score (5/5): Chance at BOGO entrée, Adobo Ranch, or Queso Blanco
- Almost perfect (4/5): 25 reward points
- Prize limits: Up to three prizes total — one BOGO, one side, and 25 points — across both weeks
While Chipotle initially announced 400,000 rewards points would be up for grabs each day, that number has since been adjusted to 300,000 points daily.

Why fans love it (And why Chipotle keeps bringing it back)
It turns out, people really like answering Chipotle trivia questions. Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s President and Chief Brand Officer, said participation jumped 20% from 2022 to 2023, proving just how much fans enjoy the challenge.
“As we return for the sixth year, we’re levelling up the experience with our longest gameplay period in the promotion’s history and our biggest prize pool yet,” Brandt said.
For Chipotle, it’s a win-win: the game entertains customers, promotes brand loyalty, and gets people excited about returning to the restaurant. For players, it’s basically a delicious excuse to flex their Chipotle knowledge and get rewarded for it.
How to play the Chipotle IQ game
The rules are simple, but timing is key. Chipotle IQ is available only on specific dates and during certain hours.
Game dates and times:
- Tuesday, Aug. 12 – Thursday, Aug. 14
- Tuesday, Aug. 19 – Thursday, Aug. 21
- Playable daily from 9:01 a.m. ET to 8:59 p.m. ET
How it works:
1. Visit ChipotleIQ.com
2. Sign in using the email linked to your Chipotle Rewards account
3. Answer multiple-choice, true-or-false, and short-answer questions
4. Play once per day for a shot at free food
Each quiz takes just a few minutes, but the rewards can last through lunch, dinner, or your next late-night burrito craving.
Pro tips for maximizing your wins
If you’re planning to play every day (and honestly, why wouldn’t you?), here are a few tips:
- Play early in the day. Prizes go to the first 10,000 perfect scores per hour, so being quick pays off.
- Brush up on Chipotle’s history and menu. If you’ve ever read the little notes on their napkins or scrolled their sustainability page, you might already have an advantage.
- Don’t skip questions. Even a wrong guess could land you 25 points, so there’s nothing to lose.
- Keep track of your wins. You can only win certain prizes once, so pace yourself across the two weeks.
Why this year is different
Besides stretching the game over two full weeks, Chipotle has also made it possible to win more than one prize type. In previous years, one lucky win was all you got. This year, you could stack a free entrée, a free side, and extra points — a combination that could turn into a free burrito bowl feast if you play your cards right.
The timing is also perfect. August is the last month of summer, meaning this is a fun way for Chipotle fans to enjoy one last seasonal perk before fall rolls in. Plus, with other fast-food chains like Chick-fil-A and Pizza Hut running their own summer promotions, Chipotle’s trivia twist keeps them competitive in the free food game.
Final bite
The Chipotle IQ game is part trivia, part marketing, and all about the food. Whether you’re in it for the BOGO burritos, the cheesy Queso Blanco, or just the thrill of winning, the game is designed to make your summer a little more flavorful.
So, grab your phone, log into ChipotleIQ.com, and put your tastebud knowledge to the test. Who knows? That random fact you once read about Chipotle’s Adobo Ranch might just score you lunch on the house.
