McDonald’s has recently made a big announcement that is getting fast food enthusiasts hyped all over America. The Golden Arches is rolling out two big menu items this July, both of which are bringing innovation and nostalgia to the masses throughout America. Beginning with a spicy take on a breakfast staple and ending with the return of one of the most beloved discarded items, McDonald’s will be turning up the heat on the summer of 2025.
The Spicy McMuffin: Spicy 50th anniversary welcome
Starting July 8, 2025, McDonald’s introduced nationally its Spicy McMuffin breakfast sandwiches, the first significant reinvention of the legendary Egg McMuffin in its 50-year lifespan. This limited-edition item is a bold reinterpretation of the breakfast sandwich that made McDonald’s a breakfast legend.
The new line of Spicy McMuffins has three options, all of which feature McDonald’s iconic Spicy Pepper Sauce:
- Spicy Egg McMuffin: The original Egg McMuffin with the new Spicy Pepper Sauce
- Spicy Sausage McMuffin: Includes sausage patty and the hot sauce
- Spicy Sausage McMuffin with Egg: Has egg and sausage with the spicy kick
Every sandwich retains the classic ingredients that fueled the original McMuffin to widespread success – melted cheese, cracked fresh egg (now 100% cage-free in the United States), Canadian bacon or sausage, and toasted and buttered English muffin – with the added spicy kick of the new Spicy Pepper Sauce.
Spicy Pepper Sauce is a habanero-laced mayonnaise blend, same as that used on McDonald’s Spicy McCrispy sandwich. Industry insiders say it packs a “PG-13 level of burn” – serious but not crushing. That measured approach is in line with evolving American tastes, as studies have indicated that 74% of Americans use hot sauce on a regular basis, with 78% of Generation Z preferring their food to be spicier.
The return of the Snack Wrap: A nine-year wait ends
McDonald’s will revive the Snack Wrap on July 10, 2025, to every restaurant across the U.S., ending its nine-year hiatus that started when the item was removed from the menu back in 2016. The recently reinstated menu product, priced at $2.99, is among the most lucrative fast-food return promotions ever driven by consumer requests.
The Snack Wrap has a carefully updated recipe that retains the authentic flavor with McDonald’s most recent innovations:
- McCrispy Strips: Entirely white meat chicken strips which debuted in May 2025
- Shredded lettuce: Crisp, fresh lettuce for crunch and freshness
- Cheese blend: Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese blend
- Sauce options: Offers two types – Ranch and Spicy Pepper Sauce
- Flour tortilla: Soft, pliable wrap which keeps it all in place
Two flavors to select

- Ranch Version: Provides a “smooth, rich and irresistibly savory” treat with cool ranch flavor, boosted with the added garlic and onion flavor for an enhanced vintage-style profile.
The strategic timing behind these launches
The re-release of the Snack Wrap was one of the best examples of McDonald’s customer listening. The discontinued-in-2016 product has enjoyed a vocal fan base that continued to demand its return. There have been almost 19,000 signatures on a Change.org petition demanding the return of the product, and TikTok clips of overseas eating of the Snack Wrap registered over 1.4 million views.
