What’s going on?

If you drive a Ford, it’s time to pay close attention. More than 270,000 Ford vehicles are being recalled because of serious safety concerns. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall affects around 282,970 vehicles in total, and the main issues involve brakes and steering—two things you don’t want failing on the road.

Which Models Are Affected?

2022–2024 Navigator and expedition

Let’s start with some of Ford’s larger rides: the Navigator and Expedition, made between 2022 and 2024. These vehicles are being recalled because their front brake lines might get damaged and start leaking brake fluid. You don’t need to be a mechanic to know that’s bad news. If the fluid leaks, it could make the brakes weaker or even fail, making a crash more likely.

But don’t worry, Ford isn’t leaving drivers stranded. If you own one of these SUVs, a free repair is on the way. Ford dealers will inspect and replace the faulty parts at no cost to you.

Ford is expected to send out notification letters starting Monday, so keep an eye on your mailbox. You can also call Ford’s customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Just mention recall number 25S47 when you call.

Ford F-150: A steering problem

Next up is the F-150, America’s favorite pickup truck. Some of these trucks have a steering issue that could get very dangerous, very fast. The NHTSA says the shaft fasteners may not be properly attached to the steering gear. That means the shaft might loosen or even fall off—not exactly what you want while cruising down the highway.

Just like with the SUVs, Ford will check out your truck and fix the problem for free if needed. Notification letters for this issue are also expected to go out on Monday.

F-150 owners can call Ford’s customer line at 1-866-436-7332 and ask about recall number 25S46.

What should you do next?

Here’s your quick to-do list:

  • Check your model and year — If you own a 2022–2024 Navigator, Expedition, or F-150, this might affect you.
  • Watch for a letter from Ford this coming week.
  • Call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 with your recall number (25S47 or 25S46).
  • Go get that free fix! Dealers will handle everything.

Stay safe and stay informed

Car recalls might sound scary, but they’re a good thing—they show that safety comes first. So if you get that letter or think your Ford might be affected, don’t wait. Book that free repair and get back on the road with confidence.
