There’s a new coffee shop that you’ll need to give a try if you’re visiting or going to be traveling to New York City. It’s Luckin Coffee, and it has finally opened up its very first locations in the United States—Manhattan, specifically.
What is Luckin Coffee?
Luckin Coffee is a Chinese coffee chain. It’s somewhat similar to Starbucks in that it sells virtually identical products but is also famously much cheaper and streamlined to maximum convenience through its app ordering. To the point, in China, Luckin already surpassed Starbucks in store count.
Where are New Luckin locations opening up in NYC?
Luckin Coffee now has two Manhattan locations:
- 755 Broadway in Greenwich Village
- 800 6th Avenue in Chelsea
These are high-traffic areas with a lot of foot traffic, so they are great locations to bring New Yorkers into the brand.
How does it work?
Luckin has no counter. It’s true, you don’t order at a counter. You place your order on the Luckin app. You order what you desire, pay in the app, and simply go grab your food or beverage and go when it’s prepared. It is created and built to be fast, effortless, and hassle-free.

What’s on the menu
Luckin serves the standard menu coffee beverages like lattes, matcha drinks, and drip coffee. But, yes, it has its unexpected and innovative ones as well—like a “fruity Americano” where fruit blend and coffee taste meet. You can even take away snacks like:
- Banana yogurt bread
- Chocolate chip cookie
- Sausage, egg, and cheese croissant
Prices are also similar to those at a U.S. Starbucks store. A plain 16-ounce coffee, for instance, will be $3.45 at Luckin and $3.65 at Starbucks. The matcha beverage is slightly more expensive at Luckin—$6.45 compared to $6.25 at Starbucks.

How big is Luckin?
Although it has only recently established roots in America, Luckin is already gigantic in Asia. It has grown to over 24,000 stores in China, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong since its launch in 2017. It also boasts over 120 million app users.
Will it send Starbucks into the red in the U.S.?
Starbucks also already has a gigantic head start in America with over 17,000 stores. But with the same offerings by Luckin, fast app service, and perhaps even lower prices, it could be a bit of competition for Starbucks—if the brand extends beyond New York.
So if you find yourself in Manhattan and are willing to venture out, give a try to the blue deer sign—Luckin Coffee. You may discover a new go-to coffee spot.
