Sweetgreen, the fast-casual favorite chain with bowls that can be made to order and wholesome menu options, is expanding once more. By 2025, the company will have restaurants in four new cities in the United States, serving up its fresh, plant-based cuisine to even more communities.
Here’s a brief rundown of where Sweetgreen is expanding and what fans can expect:
New markets are trying the Sweetgreen taste
Four new markets will open their initial Sweetgreen stores prior to 2025, according to Sweetgreen’s Chief Development Officer Chris Tarrant. These markets are:
- Sacramento, California
- Phoenix, Arizona
- Cincinnati, Ohio
- Northwest Arkansas (Fayetteville and Bentonville specifically)
The northwest Arkansas sites will include one on Walmart’s home office campus in Bentonville. The new sites will join other large restaurants in the area, including Ozark Mountain Bagel and Wright’s Barbecue.

Recent openings around the country
Sweetgreen has already opened eight restaurants this year, with many more on the way. One opened in Santa Clara, California, on June 10. Another opened in Huntersville, North Carolina, on June 12.
Here are some other locations that have had a recent Sweetgreen opening:
- Philadelphia, PA – 1359 Frankford Ave., Suite 2
- Westfield, NJ – 221 East Broad Street
- Canton, CT – 110 Albany Turnpike, Suite 911
- Richmond, VA – 3502 West Cary Street
- Fairfax, VA – 4225 Fairfax Corner Ave. East
- Madison, WI – 418 N Midvale Blvd.
- Rochester Hills, MI – 260 North Adams Road
By the end of 2025, the company plans to have at least 40 new locations open.
What’s the infinite kitchen?
Some of the new Sweetgreen locations will feature the company’s latest innovation: the Infinite Kitchen. It’s an automated platform designed to cook food faster and more accurately. It blasts out greens, drizzles on dressing, mixes salads, and builds plates—leaving human staff with the final touches, like herbs and avocado.
Sweetgreen opened its first Infinite Kitchen in Naperville, Illinois, in 2023. The idea is to speed service and have each bowl made exactly right.
About half of Sweetgreen’s new restaurants in 2025 will have this automated technology.
Drive-thru options and digital ordering
Sweetgreen is also expanding its Sweetlane drive-thru units. Two of the new locations will allow customers to order through the company’s digital platform. One will be a standard drive-thru, and the other will have the Infinite Kitchen for quicker, tech-fueled service.
What’s next for 2026?
Sweetgreen isn’t pausing. The chain, Tarrant stated, is targeting 15%–20% annual growth. That means additional stores and even new concepts to fit how consumers are looking to consume—whether in restaurants, takeout, or via the drive-thru.
If you haven’t been to Sweetgreen yet, chances are good that you might just see one spring up near home.
