The FDA has issued a recall for Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese and a few other products that include it, because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This isn’t a small recall—it’s serious enough that if you have any of the listed cheeses in your fridge, you should act immediately.
Which products are part of the recall?
Here’s the full list of affected items—double-check your fridge and pantry:
- Wegmans Medium Camembert Soft Ripened Cheese, 8.8 oz, UPC: 77890-53515, best-by dates: 7/26/25, 8/12/25, 8/19/25

What states were affected by this recall?
This isn’t just one store; the recall covers all Wegmans locations across ten states and regions:
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Maryland
- Massachusetts
- New Jersey
- New York
- North Carolina
- Pennsylvania
- Virginia
- Washington, D.C.
If you bought any of the recalled cheeses from Wegmans in those places between July 1 and August 12, 2025, you should check your fridge right now.
Who supplied the cheese, and why did they recall it?
Wegmans received these cheeses from Estancia Holdings in Cumming, Georgia, which initiated the recall after their French supplier notified them that three shipments might be contaminated with Listeria. It’s important to know that the chain of supply matters—one link in it can lead to concerns like this.
What are the health risks you need to know?
Right now, there haven’t been any illnesses reported in connection with this recall. But Listeria is not something to gamble with. It can cause:
- Fever
- Severe headache
- Stiff neck
- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea
For young children, older adults (65+), pregnant people, and those with compromised immune systems, it can be especially dangerous—and in pregnant folks, it can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth.
What should you do right now?
If that cheese is in your fridge, do not eat it. You’ve got two options:
- Toss it out safely, or
- Return it to Wegmans and get your money back—no questions asked.
If you’re feeling unsure—or if you experience symptoms after eating any of the recalled cheeses—reach out to your doctor right away.
