Allow me to walk you through something important that’s happening as we talk. In the event that you’re eating YoCrunch® yogurt or someone in your family is, there’s a recall that you’ll need to be aware of, especially if you’ve purchased some recently. It’s not about the yogurt itself, but rather the plastic topper it comes with. Let’s break down what’s going on and what you should do next.

Reason for the recall

Danone U.S., the manufacturer of YoCrunch® yogurt, is recalling all its products voluntarily because pieces of plastic were found in the dome toppers—that portion that usually has toppings like cookies or candies.

These plastic fragments can be sharp, difficult to detect, and even hazardous, particularly upon ingestion. Individuals may choke, injure their mouth or throat, or even harm their digestive tract. In children and older individuals, however, the danger is even greater.

What the FDA is saying

It has been recalled as of July 11, 2025, by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is being taken seriously. The FDA explains that the plastic is only in the dome topper, not in the yogurt.

They’ve already gotten consumer complaints—some have found pieces of plastic as large as 25 millimeters, and some of them were clear and sharp, making them difficult to detect. Swallowing one can cause a choking reaction or even injuries, according to the FDA.

There are no reported illnesses or injuries so far, but the recall is happening as a precaution.

Which products are affected?

All varieties and sizes of YoCrunch® yogurt are being recalled. So, no matter if you bought vanilla with M&Ms, Oreo crunch, or granola, you’ll want to check the product packaging carefully.

You can visit the FDA website for the full list of lot numbers and expiration dates to see if your yogurt is being recalled.

What you should do now

If you have any YoCrunch® yogurts in your facilities, do not serve them—even if they look fine. Check the topper for any defects that you can see. If the yogurt has the lot numbers on the FDA notice, you should:

 Throw it away, or

Call YoCrunch® Consumer Care at 1-877-344-4886 (Monday to Friday operation) to ask about a refund or what to do.

Stores are already pulling the tainted yogurts from shelves, but if you’d bought one recently, it’s worth taking a look anyway.

What’s next?

The company is working with the FDA to correct the issue and hopes to get YoCrunch back in stores soon, remedied. The FDA will follow up and perhaps post further updates within the next few days.

In the meantime, if you’re a YoCrunch® fan, be extra cautious and always check your labels. It’s better to stay safe and avoid any risk from hidden plastic in your snack.
