USPS holiday Schedule

The United States Postal Service (USPS) follows a strict holiday schedule each year, and 2025 is no exception. Constitution Day itself, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, is not a federal holiday. Therefore, post offices will be open and regular mail delivery will run as usual.

But just a few weeks earlier, Labor Day on Monday, September 1, 2025, is a federal holiday, and all post offices will be closed. On this day, USPS will not deliver regular mail or packages.

For comparison, following is the entire USPS holiday schedule for 2025:

  • New Year’s Day: Wednesday, Jan. 1
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, Jan. 20
  • Presidents Day: Monday, Feb. 17
  • Memorial Day: Monday, May 26
  • Juneteenth: Thursday, June 19
  • Independence Day: Friday, July 4
  • Labor Day: Monday, Sept. 1
  • Columbus Day: Monday, Oct. 13
  • Veterans Day: Tuesday, Nov. 11
  • Thanksgiving: Thursday, Nov. 27
  • Christmas: Thursday, Dec. 25

If you rely on mail for bills, prescriptions, or important documents, it’s always a good idea to keep this calendar on hand.

Online USPS services available 24/7

Even if physical post office locations are closed for a holiday, USPS offers many services online at USPS.com. With a free account, customers can:

  • Order stamps
  • Print shipping labels
  • Purchase shipping supplies like boxes and envelopes
  • Schedule package pickups directly from home

This allows the majority of mailing needs to be addressed without ever needing to go to a post office. Stamps can also be purchased at most supermarkets, drugstores, and office supply chains, many of which are open on holidays when post offices are closed.

FedEx Holiday operations

FedEx doesn’t automatically follow the federal holiday calendar. It has its own schedule. On Constitution Day 2025, FedEx services will be business as usual. Both express and ground services will be operational, and FedEx Office retail stores will be open with normal hours.

Exceptions occur on federal holidays like Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. On these days, FedEx suspends its regular pickups and deliveries. Only its priority and critical delivery services—which it uses for emergency shipments—will be available. If you have something that needs to be shipped urgently during these holidays, it’s best to call FedEx directly.

UPS holiday schedule

UPS also has the same policy as FedEx. All UPS services, including ground, air, and international delivery, will be available on Constitution Day 2025. UPS Stores will also be open during normal business hours.

On holidays like Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, UPS does not operate standard delivery routes. Some specialized services for essential shipments may be available, however. Local UPS Store hours may vary as well by location, so it’s always best to check in advance.

Amazon deliveries

Amazon delivery schedules are less predictable than USPS, FedEx, or UPS. Because Amazon uses its own drivers, along with partners like USPS and UPS, whether or not you receive a package on a holiday might depend on where you live and the delivery method utilized.

For Constitution Day, Amazon deliveries will be on time since it is not an officially observed holiday. But for federal holidays like Labor Day, delays can be expected depending on whether your package is delivered via USPS or an independent Amazon driver.
