If you live in Miami-Dade and your auto registration is due for renewal, I have some excellent news for you! You can now renew your registration and print your license plate decal in person at participating Publix stores—and for only $4.50 per service.

No more standing in line, no hurry to the tax collector’s office, and no more lost time. I’ll show you step by step how it works and where to find a kiosk.

Where are the kiosks?

There are five Publix locations in Miami-Dade where you can find these self-service machines:

  •  15771 SW 152nd St, Miami
  •  20201 SW 127th Ave, Miami
  •  1920 West Ave, Miami Beach
  •  7550 NW 104th Ave, Doral
  •  891 N Homestead Blvd, Homestead

Just visit, find the Florida MV Express kiosk, and get your registration in minutes.

What you need to bring

It’s fairly simple to use the kiosk, but you will need a few items:

  •  Your PIN from the registration renewal notice

  or

  •  Your license plate number and the birthdate of the first person listed on the registration
  •  A debit or credit card (cash is also accepted at some kiosks)

What you can do with the Kiosk

You can use the kiosks to renew registrations for:

  •  Most standard personal vehicles
  •  Vehicles not suspended for insurance, toll, or license issues
  •  Vehicles that don’t need special paperwork like IRS Form 2290 (for heavy trucks) or a Florida Certificate of Insurance

Basically, if your vehicle doesn’t have any red flags and isn’t super specialized, you’re good to go!

What can’t be renewed at the Kiosk?

Some types of vehicles still need to be renewed in person or online. Those are:

When can you renew?

You can renew your registration:

  •  Within 90 days of when your current registration is due to expire
  •  Within 8 months after your registration has expired

(But be careful—late fees may be imposed if you dawdle.)

How much will it cost?

The kiosk convenience fee is $4.50 per transaction, plus a 2.3% processing fee if you pay by card.

Those are on top of your regular registration renewal fee. And just for fun, neither does the tax collector’s office get any of those fees—they go to the kiosk vendor.

What if something goes wrong?

If you have a problem using the machine, don’t worry. You can call customer support at:

They’ll walk you through the issue.

Final tip

If you’re like most everyone, standing in line waiting for car stuff might not be high on your list of activities you enjoy doing. These kiosks just make it a little bit easier—and sometimes that’s all you need.

Next time you’re running errands at Publix, you might as well do your registration renewal too. Easy, quick, and convenient!
