A sour treat from the past

Do you recall the tart pungency of Retro Sours—formerly Altoids Sours—melted in your mouth during lunch hours or after class if you were a ’90s kid? Iconic Candy is bringing them back with an update: four new flavors that will take candy fans down memory lane. Fans can now find these treats at Walmart locations nationwide or on Iconic Candy’s first-ever website, making it easier than ever to relive those sweet memories. New Flavors to Delight

The latest lineup includes watermelon, raspberry, red apple, and passionfruit. Alongside these, the original Retro Sours flavors—mango, citrus, and tangerine—are still available. Whether you’re a die-hard fan craving that classic tangerine tang or you’re curious to try passionfruit for the first time, there’s something for everyone. Each tin is priced at $14.99, and for those who want a taste of it all, a variety pack of eight tins goes for $35.99.

More than nostalgia

“Resurrecting classic candies isn’t just nostalgia—it’s bringing happiness and sharing those memories with a new generation,” stated Kim Wiesen, co-owner and CFO of Iconic Candy. The company isn’t stopping there at Retro Sours; they’ve also resurrected Bubble Jug, a powder-to-gum original, in strawberry, watermelon, and blue raspberry flavours. Even Creme Savers and a few other ’90s staples have made their comeback.

A sweet affair

Iconic Candy’s deal with Walmart is a win-win for the brand’s devoted fan base. “Walmart as a partner is a game-changer for Iconic Candy’s reach and visibility,” said COO and co-owner Jordan Wiesen. Shoppers can now add a package of Retro Sours or Creme Savers to their shopping cart, along with staples—a convenient way to revisit childhood favorites on everyday shopping trips.

The online experience

For people who like to stock up at home, Iconic Candy’s site carries everything from single tins to variety packs. They even offer a “Best of the 90s Starter Pack” with Retro Sours, Squeeze Pops, Bubble Jug, and Ouch! Bubble Gum. Before hitting Walmart stores, Retro Sours had been available in some IT’SUGAR and Cracker Barrel locations, as well as on Amazon.

Fans are loving it

Reddit and social media platforms are buzzing. A supporter uploaded a photo of Retro Sours at Walmart, stating, “They are not in the same brands but taste just about the same.” Another one stated, “I purchased the tangerine Sours online last year, and they taste like the original Altoids tangerine.” Clearly, nostalgia is at work.

Looking ahead

The new flavors arrive a year after Iconic Candy promised to bring back fan favorites like raspberry. “We’ve said it’s coming out in tangerine, mango, and citrus, and people are already asking about raspberry and apple,” Wiesen told People. The company is listening and ready to expand flavors based on demand.
