Let’s talk about what could be one of the most expensive weddings of the year—and possibly the decade. Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon, is set to marry his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, this week, and all eyes are on Venice, Italy, where the celebrations are already stirring headlines.

You might be wondering—how much does a billionaire’s wedding actually cost? Well, depending on which reports you believe, we’re talking somewhere between $10 million and $20 million for a few days of festivities. Yes, a million.

What’s behind the $10–$20 million price tag?

If the total does fall around $10 million, that breaks down to about $50,000 per guest. Now imagine if the higher estimate of $20 million is accurate—that would be closer to $100,000 per person. That’s more than most people spend on their house!

And here’s the thing: there are about 200 guests expected, according to sources. So while this isn’t a 1,000-person blowout, it’s intimate, ultra-luxe, and likely full of celebrities, world leaders, and high-profile friends.

The $500 million yacht ceremony

The actual wedding ceremony will reportedly take place aboard Bezos’ $500 million mega-yacht, Koru, which is already anchored in the stunning Venetian lagoon. If you’re picturing a simple boat—think again. Koru is practically a floating palace, complete with a helipad and an accompanying support yacht.

But the yacht is just part of the story.

A dreamy venice backdrop

Other wedding activities are reportedly spread out across Venice. One notable location? San Giorgio Maggiore—a picturesque island famous for its old-world charm and breathtaking views. Organizers have apparently reserved parts of this iconic site for the couple’s multi-day celebration.

Wedding planners Lanza & Baucina Limited shared a rare statement with Fox News Digital, saying they’ve been very mindful of not disturbing Venice’s daily life. “Instructions from our client and our own guiding principles were abundantly clear: the minimizing of any disruptions to the city and the respect for its residents and institutions,” they explained.

They even emphasized that rumors about “taking over” the city with water taxis or gondolas were “entirely false.” In other words, this event might be huge in cost—but the team behind it wants to make sure it’s still respectful to the community.

Expect top-tier everything

One wedding expert told Brides.com that “you can expect to pay upwards of $2 million just for a set from a big name designer.” That’s just for music or entertainment—imagine the cost of food, fashion, security, floral design, and luxury lodging across Venice.

So yes, this wedding is extravagant. But when your net worth is over $200 billion, a $20 million wedding is more like a splurge than a stretch.

And for the rest of us? It’s one heck of a wedding to dream about.
