Hi, I just wanted to walk you through the latest Social Security payment information. If you get retirement, disability, survivor, or spousal benefits, this could be your week—at least if you were born close to the end of the month.

 Key payment date: June 25

If you were born from the 21st to the 31st of a month, your Social Security benefit check will be issued on Tuesday, June 25.

This applies to retirement, spousal, and survivor benefits.

Once your check does not arrive on the 25th, the Social Security Administration (SSA) suggests you wait three business days before calling them. Don’t forget that weekends and holidays are not considered business days.

How much do we get paid?

How much you receive will vary depending on your earnings, work history, and age of claim. In general, here’s what happens:

  •  Average benefit in May 2025: $2,002.39
  •  If retired at age 62: Maximum monthly benefit is $2,831
  •  If you retired at age 67 (full retirement age): Maximum is $4,018
  •  If you delay until age 70, you can receive up to $5,108 per month

Please note that your benefit may be higher or lower, depending on your lifetime earnings and the age at which you claim it.

What about SSI payments?

SSI (Supplemental Security Income) gives low incomes to low-income disabled and blind Americans.

The May average SSI payment was approximately $718.30 to 7.4 million beneficiaries.

SSI payments are made on the 1st of the month, unless it falls on a holiday or weekend.

Payment Schedule for July 2025

Planning? Your payments for July will be made on the following dates:

  •  July 1 (Tuesday): SSI payments
  •  Wednesday, July 3: If you began getting before May 1997, and if you get SSI as well
  •  Wednesday, July 9: If your birthday falls between the 1st and the 10th
  •  Wednesday, July 16: If your birthday falls between the 11th and the 20th
  •  Wednesday, July 23: If your birthday falls between the 21st and the 31st

 2026 may bring an increase

The good news is on the way: Social Security benefits will rise in 2026 with the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA).

Analysts are calling for a 2.5% boost to offset inflation.

The official SSA COLA announcement will come in October 2025.

 Last tip

If your check is late, wait three business days before contacting the SSA. Keeping in mind when you’ll be paid—and how much—you can plan, since the cost of living continues to shift.
