Deadline to Apply: April 27
Families living in Sacramento, California will have up to midnight on April 27, 2025, to apply for a new round of stimulus payments under the Family First Economic Stability Program (FFESP), which amount to $725 monthly. It is created to help these families with young children by giving necessary financial assistance to help prevent the abuse and neglect of children, as well as to fund the costs associated with appeal and intervention by the state.

Eligibility is based on ZIP code and income
Unlike other traditional stimulus programs, FFESP would not take in every application that is submitted. The eligible applicants will be:
- Be legal guardians of children ages 0 to 5
- Live in specific Sacramento County ZIP codes
- Earn below 200% of the federal poverty level
This application process is statistical and randomized among those who fit the definition of this condition – fair and equal. Its primary concern is to focus on places that are hard-hit economically.
Monthly payments of $725
Approved recipients will be receiving $725 every month for 12 months to report that $8700 is the amount rendered annually. This payment will be considered not as remuneration but in a sense that they are purely meant to facilitate family well-being and economic security. Housing, child care, and grocery essentials are part of that.
Online application posting is done only through the ffesp.org official website.
Expansion of program following the success of their pilot project
The FFESP began last year as a pilot project, which achieved such positive outcomes that it encouraged further expansion of the project. This is now an official program operated through a partnership between United Way California Capital Region and Sacramento County Department of Children, Family, and Adult Services (DCFAS).
Most funding for this program comes from a State Block Grant administered through the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), as well as from private donations.
More than just a check: Added Support for Families
Participants won’t just receive cash. The program also offers:
- Access to community-based organizations
- Financial counseling sessions
- Monthly webinars on managing money
- Opportunities to join peer support groups
These services are intended to empower families with the tools and knowledge to build long-term financial stability and avoid state intervention due to poverty-related challenges.
Why this matters
Sacramento’s effort is part of a broader state movement to invest in preventative care and early intervention for at-risk families. According to CDSS, the goal is to:
- Reduce child abuse and neglect
- Lower foster care placements
- Strengthen family economic resources
With rising costs of living and limited access to affordable childcare, initiatives like FFESP offer much-needed relief for struggling families in California.
Apply before it gets too late
Sacramento County residents who meet eligibility requirements should not wait to apply. Go to ffesp.org before April 27 at dawn midnight to submit your application and possibly qualify for a whole year of steady financial support for your family.
