If you are a Pop Mart Labubu doll owner, then you could be sitting on a pot of gold. Those humble $22 collector figures began as a teen craze but have since grown into a worldwide phenomenon, with some extremely rare Labubu statues selling for thousands of dollars. The most expensive Labubu ever sold smashed a record in a Beijing sale in June 2025 when it sold for a record $150,000, one of the world’s most expensive collector toys.
What makes your Labubu so valuable?
Your Labubu’s value is mostly based on rarity and edition. Pop Mart generally sells standard Labubu dolls for $15-$30 for vinyl figures and $8.99 for plush blind boxes, but exclusive releases can sell at exponentially higher prices. The most expensive versions are:
- Secret editions (Chase figures): These are Labubu collector’s ultimate fantasy. Secret editions are never found on official packaging and are impromptu placed into blind boxes with as low as 1 in 72 or 1 in 144 boxes. The “ID” secret from the Big Into Energy series, for instance, can fetch between $400-$500 or the “DuoDuo” secret from the Have a Seat series that retails between $225-$350.
- Limited collaborations: Limited collaborations between brands or artists produce extremely desired items. The Labubu x Vans Old Skool Vinyl Plush Doll, selling for a record $8,924 through an eBay auction, is now amongst the most expensive Labubu releases available on the market.
Celebrity-driven demand
Blackpink member Lisa is most popular for initiating the world Labubu mania. She would regularly post Labubu dolls on her social media, making them international status symbols from cult trinkets. Other stars such as Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Kim Kardashian, and David Beckham have also been seen wearing Labubu accessories, resulting in explosive demand.
Record-breaking sales that changed everything
The collectible toy world was stunned when some Labubu figures entered the luxury price bracket:
- $150,000 Human-sized Labubu: A mint-colored 131-centimeter statue sold for 1.08 million yuan ($150,324) at Beijing’s Yongle International Auction. The first-generation item was marketed as “the only one of its kind” and set a new world record for collectible toys.
- $132,000 giant brown Labubu: The 160-centimeter brown statue, of which only 15 copies were made in the whole world, was sold at the exact same auction for $132,000.
- $31,250 Sacai x Seventeen collaboration: At Pharrell Williams’ JOOPITER auction website, 14 of the rare Labubu toys were sold between $18,750 and $31,250 each, with the set total selling at $337,500.
The secondary market explosion
The secondary marketplace for Labubu is literally humming. Limited-edition Labubu drops on marketplaces like StockX sell for three-digit markups regularly. Even “regular” limited-version ones are selling 3 to 5 times the price tag they had when new, with some seeing price hikes of as much as 741%.
How to spot your value Labubu
- First-generation characters: Early Labubu releases between 2015-2017 are highly coveted, particularly resin protos that always resell for more than $1,000.
- Secret editions: Hunt for characters that do not fit into the regular series packaging. Mystery versions are randomly packed with extremely low chances and can resell for hundreds or even thousands.
- Limited editions: Limited editions co-created with brands such as Vans, Coca-Cola, or designers sell at high prices. The Labubu x Vans item in 2023 is now one of the most popular models.
- Size matters: Big Labubu statues, especially those of more than 100cm height, are very rare and worth it. There are only 15 units of the 160cm brown sculpture available worldwide.
Authentication is everything
With waves of counterfeit Labubu plushies sweeping the resale channels, authentication is required. CheckCheck recently opened up the first U.S.-based authenticating site exclusively for Labubu figures, joining global sites such as Legit App.
To authenticate, original Labubu dolls must possess textured boxes instead of smooth or glossy ones. UV-reactive logos would glow if placed under blacklight on some sets. Buy only from legitimate dealers and verify the official Pop Mart branding.
The investment potential
The numbers are representative. The revenue of Pop Mart in 2024 was 13.04 billion yuan ($1.8 billion), up 106.9% year over year. Monsters line, including Labubu, generated 3.04 billion yuan, which accounts for almost a quarter of the company’s overall revenue.
The designer market, where Labubu operates, increased 26% in 2024, with Southeast Asian sales alone increasing 478.3% to $78.4 million. These kinds of figures show consistent demand propelling the resale value upward.
