Fresno shoppers, keep your wallets ready! A brand-new Grocery Outlet has opened for business in north Fresno, introducing new bargains and taking the place of an older store a few miles to the south. Let’s dive into all the information so that you’ll know what to expect from this latest outlet.
- The new Grocery Outlet is located at 2990 E. Nees Avenue, in the Montecito Plaza shopping complex in north Fresno.
- The new store replaces the old store that had been located at Blackstone and Ashlan avenues, a few miles to the south.
- The old store was operated by Luis and Cristina Ramirez, and they operate this new store, too.
What was here before?
- The building formerly was a Rite Aid, which closed in 2022 before the company went bankrupt.
- Grocery Outlet rented the building in February of 2024 and secured their building permit by November of that year.
- The building was basically an “empty box,” said John Lee of Retail California.
- Cristina Ramirez said that turning it into a grocery store filled her with “pure excitement.”
So, what’s so different about grocery outlet?
Grocery Outlet is not your average grocery store. Here’s why:
1. Deep Discounts
- They sell food and household items at or below the town’s lowest prices.
- Many of them are from overruns or package changes by brands, which keep costs low.
2. A Treasure Hunt Experience
Each store is a little different!
You might have Cinnamon Toast Crunch-flavored Hershey’s Kisses one day and specialty wines the next.
“If you see it today, buy it, because it will not be here tomorrow,” Luis Ramirez said.
3. Stock Is Always Changing
The shelves are restocked daily with new ones.
So, there’s always something different to try.
4. Housewares, Too
It’s not all food—they also carry items such as vitamins, which were also carried by the former Rite Aid.
Meet the owners
- The owners are Luis and Cristina Ramirez.
- The couple boasts a total of more than 40 years of retail experience.
- Their number one goal? Excellent customer service and making people feel like family.
- Cristina invites, “Bring your family to meet our family.”
