Good news for sea food lovers: iconic restaurant chain leaves bankruptcy

Red Lobster emerges from bankruptcy with a fresh menu, revamped restaurants, and the return of Crabfest—now with bold new seafood boils.

A U.S. bankruptcy judge just gave the green light to the seafood giant’s reorganization plan, signaling a fresh start after nearly four months in financial limbo.

Red Lobster filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the early part of this year after posting a $76 million loss in 2023. The chain, as part of its reorganization plan, closed several underperforming restaurants nationwide—some in Alabama—and promised to simplify operations. Now that it has obtained court approval, the chain is ready to move forward with a full makeover.

New leadership, new direction

At Red Lobster’s helm is CEO Damola Adamolekun. Already, he’s steering the vessel into smoother waters by ridding the company of costly promotions such as the wildly popular “All You Can Eat” shrimp—an offer that was high on publicity but low on profit. Sustainability, smarter promotions, and offering a higher overall experience to consumers are now the focus.

Instead of piling plates high with plates and plates of endless portions, Adamolekun is betting on quality, not quantity. And that means improved hospitality, enhanced restaurants, and yes—a new, fresh menu. Less gimmick, more taste, and an improved dining experience overall.

Crabfest returns — with a twist

And now for the yummiest part—Crabfest returns. And yet, it’s not the same old roster. This summer, Red Lobster is rolling out Seafood Boils to shake up the action and make Crabfest feel fresh all over again.

You have two primary boils to pick from:

  •  Mariner’s Boil: Loaded with a Maine lobster tail, a dozen shrimp, snow crab legs, corn, and red potatoes.
  •  Sailor’s Boil: A rich mix of shrimp, smoked sausage, and corn.

Crabfest started officially on June 23 and goes on until September 14, so you’ve got more than enough time to join in the fun. Red Lobster Chief Marketing Officer Nichole Robillard says, “Crabfest is the ultimate summer dining experience,” and the new dishes are designed to bring excitement and comfort to both long-time guests and newcomers.
