If you are one of the 7.4 million Americans who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you may be surprised to find no payment coming your way in June 2025. But do not worry—you are not being skipped.
The reason? It all comes down to the calendar.
SSI benefits are typically paid out on the first day of each month. But when the first falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the Social Security Administration (SSA) moves the payment to the prior business day. Since June 1, 2025, falls on a Sunday, the payment was moved up to Friday, May 30.
So even though there is no deposit in June, you still receive your benefits—just a couple of days early.
When will SSI payments be made in 2025?
To help you stay ahead, here is what the SSI payment schedule looks like for 2025:
- May 30 – Early payment for June (since June 1 is a Sunday)
- July 1 – Regular July payment
- August 1 – Regular August payment
- August 29 – Early payment for September (since September 1 is Labor Day)
- October 1 – Regular October payment
- November 1 – Regular November payment
- November 29 – Early payment for December (since December 1 is a Sunday)
So if you see two SSI payments in May or November, that is normal—it just means no check is coming the next month. You are still getting your full benefits; the dates are just shifted due to weekends and holidays.
How much will SSI recipients get in 2025?
The maximum federal SSI benefit for 2025 is:
- $943 per month for individuals
- $1,415 for couples
Your actual payment may be lower depending on your income, living arrangements, and whether you receive help from family or other benefits. But regardless of your monthly amount, the payment schedule remains the same for everyone.
What about regular social security payments in June?
If you receive Social Security (not SSI), your payments in June are not affected by the calendar shift. Those benefits are sent based on your birthday, and here is how that breaks down:
- June 11 – If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th
- June 18 – If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th
- June 25 – If your birthday is after the 20th
- June 3 – If you started receiving benefits before May 1997
These dates do not change due to weekends or holidays in June 2025, so you can count on getting your payment as scheduled.
Do I need to do anything to receive my early SSI payment?
Nope—you do not have to lift a finger. As long as you are enrolled in direct deposit or receive a Direct Express debit card, your payment will arrive automatically on May 30.
Still, it is a good idea to check your deposit to make sure everything goes through smoothly. If you do not see your payment by the evening of May 30, contact the SSA or your financial institution.
Can you spend the payment in June?
Absolutely. Even though the money arrives in May, it is meant to cover your June expenses. So go ahead and budget as usual—you are not missing a thing.
