If you’re anywhere near Cortez Road in Bradenton, you now have a brand-new place to relax, sip a drink, and treat yourself. One of America’s top-rated bakeries—Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe—has officially opened its first Florida location right in your neighborhood. With a mission to create a welcoming space that feels like home, the team behind Sweet Hut has chosen Bradenton as its next big step after expanding through Georgia and Texas.

We wanted to allow people to come and relax,” said store manager Tonny Yin, explaining why they picked Bradenton as the newest home for their colorful, cozy bakery.

What’s on the menu?

Walking into Sweet Hut is like stepping into a dessert lover’s dream. Display cases are filled with an assortment of Asian pastries, buns, cakes, cookies, sandwiches, burgers, and more. But don’t let the sweets distract you—there’s plenty of savory food, too.

Here are some early customer favorites:

  • Fruit cake
  • Strawberry cake – A vanilla sponge cake with fresh-cut strawberries and cream
  • Taro cake
  • Mini-baos – Small buns made from fried dough, topped with marinated meats like bulgogi beef

Yin pointed out that there’s a Malaysian and Chinese influence in many of the recipes, especially in how they season the meats and create the sauces. It’s a twist you don’t often find in typical American bakeries—and that’s part of what makes this place stand out.

Sip something sweet (or not too sweet)

Of course, what’s a bakery without a great drink menu? At Sweet Hut, you can pair your pastry or sandwich with:

And to make your drink your own, you can add toppings like boba, chia seeds, flavored jellies, and puddings.

More than just a bakery

Sweet Hut isn’t just a place to grab a quick bite—it’s a community hangout, a place to unwind, and a little escape from your busy day. The team takes pride in making sure the food isn’t overly sweet, so you can enjoy more without feeling weighed down. Everything is crafted with care and meant to be both comforting and unique.

Grand opening details

To celebrate the big opening, Sweet Hut is hosting a grand opening event this Friday and Saturday. You can expect:

  • Raffles and door prizes
  • Plushies and other giveaways

It’s a great time to check it out, especially if you want to be among the first to try what could become your new favorite bakery in town.
