I’d like to give you a quick update, just in case you or someone you know has a Nissan, Ford, or Chevrolet. More than 750,000 vehicles have been recalled, and it’s a doozy—especially because some of the problems could lead to engine failure or rearview camera malfunction.
Let’s run through what’s happening, who’s affected, and what to do next. I’ll make it super easy to understand.
Nissan and infiniti: Engine problem
Nissan recalled 443,899 cars because some engines may have a flaw that causes them to fail. That means your engine may shut down in the middle of driving. That is frightening.
The following vehicles are affected:
- 2021–2024 Nissan Rogue
- 2019–2020 Nissan Altima
- 2019–2022 Infiniti QX50
- 2022 Infiniti QX55
These cars either have a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder or 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine, and that’s where it goes wrong.
Dealers will check the oil pan for metal fragments. They will fix or replace the engine at no charge to you.
If you own one of these vehicles, you’ll get a letter in the mail by August 25.
Ford and Lincoln: Rearview camera problems
Ford has recalled various models because the rearview camera can freeze or become blank entirely. That’s not only inconvenient—it’s hazardous, especially when reversing.
The following models are in the recall:
- 2018–2022 Ford Transit Connect
- 2019–2023 Ford Ranger, Mustang
- 2019–2020 Lincoln MKZ, Nautilus, Continental
- 2019–2020 Ford Edge, F-150, Fusion
- 2020–2022 Ford Escape, F-250 SD
- 2020–2024 Ford Explorer, Transit
- 2020–2021 Ford EcoSport, Expedition
- 2020–2023 Lincoln Aviator
- 2020–2021 Lincoln Navigator
- 2021–2024 Ford Bronco Sport
- 2022–2024 Ford Maverick
- 2020–2022 Lincoln Corsair
It is due to a software bug. Ford will fix it by installing a newer version of the camera software—at no cost. They’ll send notification by July 28.
How to check your car
If your car is located somewhere else but you’re still worried, there’s a simple test you can perform online. Go to the NHTSA website (nhtsa.gov) and enter your VIN number (you should be able to find it on your car or on your policy documents). You’ll be able to see any recalls on your car.

One more thing
Even if your car seems fine, it’s always safest to play it safe. These are recalled so something worse does not happen down the road. So when you get a letter or see your car noted, don’t hesitate—call your dealer and get it fixed for free.
Drive safely.
